About Susan Pearson

Susan Pearson is an artist from Whalsay in Shetland. She achieved First-Class Honours in Fine Art at UHI Shetland in 2023 and is currently studying for a Contemporary Art and Archaeology Masters with UHI Orkney. 

 

Susan’s creative practice includes drawing, painting, print, and sculpture. She is interested in the power of making, inspired by place, folklore and identity. She feels a physical and emotional connection to the materials she uses, like second-hand yarn and locally gathered clay. This informs what she creates.

 

There is a merging of narratives that become hybrid figures inspired by the transformative power of materials, (is)landness, and the human body.
